Career fairs and education expos bring colleges, recruiters and counsellors under one roof. With a little preparation, one visit can save weeks of research.
Before you go
- Check the list of participating colleges or companies and shortlist ten.
- Prepare a few questions for each one.
- Carry printed copies of your resume if you are job-hunting, and a notebook.
Questions worth asking
For colleges
- What do students from this course go on to do?
- What are the total fees, including hostel and other charges?
- Are scholarships or fee concessions available?
For recruiters
- What skills do you look for in freshers?
- Do you offer internships?
- What does the selection process look like?
At the event
Start with your shortlist before the crowds build up. Keep conversations short and focused, and note names and contact details.
After the event
Send a brief thank-you message to the people you spoke with, mentioning something from your conversation. It helps them remember you.
